'love to learn for life'
Dear Parents/Carers
It was lovely to see so many
parents at the new reception parents’ meeting last week. I hope you found the
meetings interesting and enjoyed finding out about the sorts of things your
children learn about in school.
Year 1 and 2 (Classes 4-9) Parents’
Evening
There
will be a Parents’ Evening after school on 13th October for Key
Stage One (KS1) parents to discuss their children’s progress. Please sign up
for an appointment on the list by classroom doors. These meetings are not suitable for children.
Evening Post-
the Evening Post came to take photos of the new reception children, who have
parent consent forms, and these will be appearing in the paper round about 13th
October.
Harvest -this
year we are asking for donations to go to the Salvation Army for distribution
to local people in Bristol. Please send in any tins, packets and jars of food
that are unopened and in date. Donations can be brought to the Link between now
and 12th October. Thank you.
Travelling Book Fayre- 5th-9th
October please come and buy books
with your children before or after school. The more books you buy the more
books we are able to choose for school. If you are able to help out at the Book
Fayre before or after school please see Mrs Buckley in the office.
As part of Book Week we are
inviting parents in to read stories to the children. If you would like to read
a story please see your class teacher.
School Dinners-Dinner money (£2.10 per day) MUST be
paid in advance on Monday. Please put money in named envelopes. Twenty
letters were sent out last Friday for outstanding arrears. I realise some of
these were small amounts but it takes time to chase any arrears. Thank you to
everyone who pays regularly on Monday.
Barnado’s- if
you wish to support this cause please return your donations in the envelopes to
school by 13th October. Children should wear their own badge to
school on 14th October when a draw (of an envelope) will take place
in assembly to win the Barnado’s Bear and take him home. Please make sure your
child’s name is on the envelope. Thank you.
Attendance and Sickness
Please make sure you ring
school on the first day your child is off sick otherwise we will be ringing you
to find out why your child is not in school. Children who have sickness and
diarrhoea should be kept at home for 48
hours after the last time they were sick/had diarrhoea. This is to try and
prevent the spread of diseases.
Slap Cheek-We
have one suspected case of Slap Cheek in school. This is of particular concern
to pregnant women who should inform their midwife. There are information sheets
up around school giving further details.
OPEN DAY Thursday 15th October
We are having an Open Day
where parents and friends can look round at the school during a typical day. If
you know of friends and neighbours with young children please invite them. Open
times are 9.15-10.15am then 1.15-2.15pm and 3.15-4.30pm. If you have a child in
school they will be able to take you to look round school after am or pm
registration. (Children must go to their classes first to register). I will do
conducted tours of the school for new and prospective parents at 9.15, 1.15 and
3.30- please come to the Main Entrance (The Link).
Mr Long will be doing tours
of

Walk to School Month- October
We are holding a Walk to
School month throughout October to encourage more people to walk rather than
using their cars. If you live a long way away you can still join in by driving
half way and walking the
rest.

photographer will be in school from 8.30 and will start with babies and
siblings including those not in our school. Please let junior staff know that
